Nebraska Turkey

Carried out on lands that have been finely developed and manicured for the maximized hunting potential of multiple species – mallard ducks, Canada geese, and white-tailed deer, is an opportunity to harvest Merriam’s and Rio Grande turkeys at an almost alarming success rate. Located in Western, Nebraska in rive bottom woods, islands, swamps and sloughs, Russian olive trees and cedar cover adjacent to uplands of both grass and irrigated corn and alfalfa, turkeys have thrived since their reintroduction some thirty and forty years ago. And for whatever reason, they are particularly thick on certain properties and we offer a chance to bag them fairly handily.

But what separates this particular offering is the amenities that go along with it. We only do a limited amount of booking a year, focusing on high productivity and quality experience for those who participate. There are places to add a Merriam’s to your grand slam, or a Rio, but not many to do both. And there are certainly other ways to go about it. For some a motel with a bed and permission to access property is enough. For others, there is a place that can provide fires in the fireplace after calling in a couple toms, while telling the occasional truth over a cocktail, and then dragging the lies outside to a patio fire pit to continue, while awaiting being serve a delicious meal that falls somewhere between gourmet and “down home”, before retiring to a private bedroom to sleep in a bed that attendees compliment continually. If that is the experience you want, then this might be the place for you.

We like to take on a good group early, perhaps opening day, and a couple more parties after that. Our shotgun season is from mid April until the end of May. We sell a package that included 2 full days and 1 morning (if necessary) to take 2 toms, with a third for an additional kill fee. Meals and lodging are included, liquor is BYO. We guide to extent of what is needed per hunter skill. Minimally, we get people to their spots. We mostly use ground blinds, but also the base of a tree if it is what is needed.
